Real Hair Answers will teach to understand your hair by the "Type".  Once you understand what you have then you can choose hairstyles that will complement you.  When you understand your hair type then you can choose the proper color, cut and/or products according your hair type.

Using the right produt or tools on the wrong hair type will have terrible results. The hair that styles the easiest and looks the best is the hair that is cut, colored and styled according to what "Your Hair" can do.

Real Hair Answers will dispel the myths about determining hair by race and not type.  If your mother is Japanese and your father is African American, what type of hair do you have?

Myth #1: All Black/African American hair is strong.

Truth: The hair that can take the least amount of chemicals and will break the easiest is overly curly hair.  The tighter the curl the weaker the hair.  Not only is relaxing incredibly hard on this hair type,  if the hair is extremely curly, making the hair "bone straight" will usually result in COMPLETE (entire head) breakage.  Every race has many different hair types, Black/African American people have strong, weak, thick, thin, wavy, curly and overly curly hair.  Each race has different hair types, your race may determine some aspects of your hair type, but race alone is not enough to decide on hair type.

Fact: .There are 12 hair types no matter what your ethnic background, your ethnicity is not your hair type.  Your hair type is straight, wavy, curly or overly curly, fine, medium, coarse and thin, normal or thick. (click here to find out your hair type).

Myth #2: Hairstylists are trained at beauty school.

Truth: Most states require no formal training outside of beauty school.  There are a few states that require a small amount of continuing education, but the education is minimal and undirected.  Beauty School teaches health and safety, not high lighting, cutting, coloring, relaxing, etc. Work performed by a Hair Stylist with no formal training is like letting a doctor perform surgery right out of med school.
